3 Firefighters Suffer Heat Exhaustion At Shippensburg Fire: Authorities

Three firefighters suffered heat exhaustion while battling a blaze at a storage unit in Southampton Township, authorities say.

The fire broke out at South Mountain Storage located at 767 Walnut Bottom Road in Shippensburg around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, according to emergency dispatchers.

Multiple companies worked to knock down the blaze until 3 p.m., according to fire officials.

The estimated cost of the damage is $200,000, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities say.

All three firefighters have been released.
